OpenAI to Introduce Ads in ChatGPT for Free and Go Plan Users in U.S.
OpenAI will begin testing advertisements in ChatGPT for free and Go plan users in the U.S. within the coming weeks. Sponsored content will appear at the bottom of chatbot responses, clearly labeled to maintain transparency. Premium subscribers—Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise tiers—will remain ad-free.
The company emphasizes that user conversations will not be shared with advertisers, nor will ads influence ChatGPT's responses. This MOVE aligns with OpenAI's broader monetization strategy, which includes the expansion of its $8 monthly Go plan from India to the U.S. market.
Sam Altman, OpenAI's CEO, reiterated the firm's commitment to privacy and unbiased AI interactions. "We will not accept money to influence ChatGPT's answers," he stated on social media. The rollout marks a pivotal shift in how the AI giant balances revenue generation with user experience.
